Kristie is an Assistant Professor in the Ivy College of Business (Department of Management & Entrepreneurship) at Iowa State University. She earned her Ph.D. in Management from the University of Arkansas as the Frank & Donna Oldham Graduate Fellow in 2023.
Her research is rooted in the principle that scholarship should be theoretically and practically meaningful to best serve individuals, organizations, and society.
At a broad level, Kristie’s research centers on the role of organizations in addressing pressing societal issues. Her main research focuses on promoting more inclusive work environments, with a focus on social class in and around organizations. She is especially interested in the interpersonal interactions and organizational processes that facilitate mobility. Kristie uses various methods to study these topics, including experimental techniques, network analysis, field studies, and qualitative interviews.
Outside of work, you can find Kristie exploring Iowa’s gravel roads by bike or nearby lakes by paddleboard, on a porch with friends and her dog, Oli (namesake of Mary Oliver), or traveling to visit her family, who span from Portland to London.
